An Ohio library dropped a policy that barred a public interest group from holding a forum on traditional marriage without also inviting someone to argue for "same-sex marriage."

The agreement by the Newton Falls Library Board of Trustees settled a lawsuit filed by Florida-based Liberty Counsel, which applied to the library to hold a meeting last spring that would include prayer and Scripture reading.

The library denied Liberty Counsel's application, citing a policy that said, "If a program deals with a controversial subject, then all sides of the issue must be presented."

Who in the world made up THAT law!?

The policy made the room available to "nonprofit organizations" for "programs of a civic, cultural or educational nature."

Liberty Counsel said it requested the room for specific dates at the end of May and on June 6 or 13, but library director Kerry McCrone denied the application May 23.

Along with notice of the denial, McCrone sent a copy of the policy, highlighting the statement that if a program deals with a controversial subject, all sides of the issue must be presented.

With the settlement, the library has agreed to remove the requirement.

Mathew D. Staver, president and general counsel of Liberty Counsel, said the old policy violated the First Amendment's right of free speech.

"Under the former policy, Liberty Counsel would have been required to invite a proponent of same-sex marriage before we could address our viewpoint that marriage is the union of one man and one woman," he said. "Such a policy invites dispute and ends up censoring the speaker."

This is so ridulous it's not funny any more. Who are these people to tell ANYONE they may not practice their rights under the First Amendment without someone there to argue the counter-point of whatever subject a person chooses to speak about. What's next, home monitoring of private conversations between family members? Referess throwing flags for PC violations? What a nutty world we live in. It's sad when people have to file lawsuits to get permission to speak their minds about anything contrary to the "polictically correct" agenda in America.

What Skorski finds is something very different from what Franken claims, and he concludes that, unlike many of the petty "lies" Franken writes about in his books—whether Bill O'Reilly's Inside Edition show won a Peabody or a Polk award or whether Ann Coulter said that she and Franken were "friendly"—"...Pants on Fire" reveals that Franken himself regularly lies, smears, and distorts what others say and do, ultimately discrediting himself as a "truth teller."

Mexico Recalls Ambassador from Venezuela

Mexico recalled its ambassador from Venezuela on Monday after Caracas said it would withdraw its top diplomat instead of apologizing after President Hugo Chavez warned Mexican leader Vicente Fox: "Don't mess with me, sir, because you'll get stung."

Fox said in a television interview that he would meet with Foreign Secretary Luis Ernesto Derbez to decide what to do next.

Tensions between Fox and Chavez spilled over after this month's Summit of the Americas in Argentina, where Fox defended a U.S.-backed proposal for a Free Trade Area of the Americas while Chavez proclaimed the idea dead.

Well, this is nice. The two Latin American boneheads can't get along with each. If this keeps up maybe there will be a nice little war between these two countries. We could call it, Rumble in the Jungle II (remember Ali and Foreman?). If Mexico and that other country, oh yeah, Venezuela did go to war, would Fox start drafting unemployed Mexicans for his army instead of smuggling them wholesale into the United States? One can only hope.

BTW, Chavez is right, The Free Trade Agreement should be scrapped. It's ruining our economy.

Song About Picking Cotton Pulled From School Concert

A song about people picking cotton was pulled from a middle school concert in suburban Detroit after a black parent complained that it glorifies slavery.

I could have gone the rest of the week without hearing about something that "offended" somebody. And of course, since the "offended" party is black they'll get their way about what it is their "offended" about because white people don't have the guts to stand up and tell them to go straight to hell like they should. That would be "politically incorrect" and it might hurt the poor "offended" person's little feelings, wouldn't it?

BTW, you "offended" idiots out there--shut up, get a life, and stop your incessant whining! It gets on people's nerves. You dig, bro?

Report Alleges Secret CIA Network Of Jails

The Spanish National Court received a report alleging an airport on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca was part of a secret network of jails used by the CIA for the covert transfers of terror suspects.

The U.S. government has been criticized by human rights groups for practicing "extraordinary rendition" - sending suspected terrorists to foreign countries, where they are detained, interrogated and subjected to possible ill-treatment. By conducting interrogations off US soil, certain prisoner rights do not have to be enforced.

This doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. If we are to defend our country against terrorist we can't have the likes of Kennedy, Boxer, Kerry, or any other bleeding heart liberal saying we have to serve milk and cookies to known murderers and give them a hug to burp them. If the CIA needs to get these guys alone, so be it. It's better than what the terrorist did to caputured Europeans in Iraq--slicing their heads off and video taping it for the world to see. There are times when you fight fire with fire and leave your humanity back in camp. This is the way of all wars, not just this one. We'd be better off listening to the ones on the scene than giving an ear to those at home with their feet propped up drinking martinis in front of the fireplace and bellyaching that the world just doesn't suit them today. It must be nice to be a rich liberal jackass.

Jackson moves to own island in Bahrain

Michael Jackson has shelled out £860,000 for his own island paradise in Bahrain.

The King of Pop, who quit the US after being cleared of child sex abuse in June, is expected to live on the quarter-acre site permanently.

The secluded area is situated on Bahrain's Amwaj Islands, a project of three man-made islands that has taken five years to complete.

Jackson's purchase includes two separate villas with seaside views, the New York Post reported. The affluent island features top restaurants, a private hospital and school, parks, golf courses and private boat moorings.

Jackson has been living in Bahrain as a guest of the country's royal family and has kept a low profile except for several trips to London.

New Conservative Paper at Marquette Is Under Attack

Liberals at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., took a culinary approach to delivering a message to conservative students who started an alternative newspaper last week: You're not welcome.

The business manager of the publication, The Warrior, woke up last Thursday to egg and ketchup on his house and profane signage placed on his lawn. This is the liberal response to conservatives exercising 1st Amendment rights.

The independently run publication released its first edition of the year November 2. The Warrior is an alternative news source to help fill the information gap on campus. Before The Warrior, Marquette had one student newspaper, the University-sponsored Marquette Tribune.

In Tuesday’s issue, the second edition since the release of The Warrior, the Tribune ran a news story and a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” editorial. It called on The Warrior to be accountable in guaranteeing the publishing of the truth and claimed to embrace new competition on the information front. Within hours of the publication’s distribution, the campus, and beyond, was buzzing. There have been floods of emails offering financial support, asking for subscriptions, and expressing support.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ran a front-page story this past Saturday about The Warrior in light of Thursday’s events. The story ran with plenty of inaccuracies and blog quotes, but lacked fact-checking and quote confirmation. As editor in chief, Diana Sroka (who the Journal Sentinel never interviewed) stated in a press release, “It’s ironic that The Warrior’s mission is to promote accuracy, and yet Milwaukee’s major newspaper botches the story on its front page.” Poor reporting like this is exactly why The Warrior is needed.

The Journal Sentinel reporter asked three members of the editorial board if they were members of College Republicans. Even though they responded “yes,” asking only three of the more than 25 members apparently justified labeling The Warrior as a “Republican” newspaper.

Assigning a partisan label implies the paper and its members affiliate with that party. The Warrior is neither funded by any political group nor is the collective staff Republican. What if the reporter had asked the editorial board members their sexual orientation? If they all answered homosexual, would the reporter called it the “homosexual” newspaper?

No matter how it is classified, The Warrior is simply just a student service for Marquette—another source of information to help them discern the truth. Its coverage is unique because it adopts different perspectives on issues. It isn’t liberal-bashing editorials, but fact-based journalism seeking to bring out the truth the mainstream media neglects.

This issue’s centerpiece story reported on the experiences of a student Marine veteran who fought in Iraq. While the mainstream media would divert the story’s attention to the death toll and pull-out deadlines, The Warrior focused on the Marine’s pride and accomplishments.

Another story exposed the racist approach to Marquette’s diversity initiatives. While the mainstream media would report that university’s lack of racial and ethnic diversity, The Warrior reported the university’s lack of political and ideological diversity.

The status quo becomes uneasy at the rise of an outsider and an influx of information. Publications like The Warrior are a dangerous threat to the university’s, and perhaps the media industry’s information monopoly.

Maybe they should be nervous if a group of amateur college journalists can pick out a professional’s flaws, gain local and national recognition within days, and double its circulation after just two issues.

Egg on your face may be an insult for liberals and the information elite, but egg on a house seems to be an honor for conservatives.

Federal Law Allows Religious Groups to Harbor Illegals

Congressman Tancredo Introduces Repeal of Provision Signed into Law Last Week

Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) plans to introduce a bill to repeal a dangerous federal law passed last week that allows religious groups to “conceal, harbor, or shield” illegal aliens from detection.

Section 796 of the Agriculture Appropriations Bill, which was signed by the President last Friday, allows religious organizations to harbor illegal aliens so long as the organization encourages or enables the illegal alien to be a volunteer minister or missionary.

“This provision opens a hole in our immigration system so big, a terrorist could drive a truck bomb through it,” said Tancredo. “Terrorists in the United States have used religious organizations as fronts before. This provides legal cover for any church, synagogue, mosque or group that calls itself a religion to aid and abet illegals who may pose a national security threat.”The provision was slipped into the farm subsidy bill by the Senate during the final days of the bill’s passage. Congressman Tancredo was made aware of the change after the President signed it into law.

“A religious organization could actively conceal a terrorist who is an illegal alien, transporting him across the country, and providing him with food and housing, and never break the law,” said Tancredo. “How something that threatens this nation’s security can become law is absolutely mind-numbing.”

Tancredo concluded, “This goes to show how little the government cares about catching illegal aliens. The lawmakers who authored this provision should step forward and explain themselves.

Triumph International introduced the bra in Japan which has launched a "Warm Biz" campaign urging people to heat up with their undergarments in order to save on heating.

The bra pads are filled with an eco-friendly, reusable gel that can be heated up in a microwave or with hot water. For good measure, a pendant of a hot pepper dangles from the front.

"We hope this will not only help prevent global warming but also provide a little fashion chic to the office," Triumph's Japanese branch says in a statement.

The Solution to America’s Problems Today—Drugs!

The other day, someone at a store in our town read that a methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farm house in the adjoining county and he asked me a rhetorical question, ''Why didn't we have a drug problem when you and I were growing up?''

I replied: ''But I did have a drug problem when I wuz a kid growing up on the farm.''

I was drug to church on Sunday morning.

I was drug to church for weddings and funerals.

I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather.

I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults. I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the preacher. Or if I didn't put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.

I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profane four letter word.

I was drug out to pull weeds in mom's garden and flower beds and cockleburs out of dad's fields.

I was drug to the homes of family, friends, and neighbors to help out some poor soul who had no one, to mow the yard, repair the clothesline, or chop some fire wood, and if my mother had ever known that I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back to the wood shed.

Those drugs are still in my veins; and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say, and think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin, and if today's children had this kind of drug problem, America might be a better place today.

Hempstead, NY (AHN) - Former president Bill Clinton defended his presidency Friday, calling Congress' impeachment of him an "egregious" abuse of the Constitution.

Speaking at an academic conference examining his presidency in Hempstead, New York Thursday, Clinton disagreed with those who say history will judge him poorly because of his White House tryst with Monica Lewinsky.

He challenged historian Douglas Brinkley's comments in a newspaper interview that Clinton would be deemed a great president were it not for his impeachment.

"I completely disagree with that," Clinton said in his speech at Hofstra University. "You can agree with that statement, but only if you think impeachment was justified. Otherwise, it was an egregious abuse of the Constitution and law and history of our country."

"Offended" Christians Win a Battle!?

After a series of reports by WorldNetDaily, Wal-Mart officials have satisfied demands by the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, which had called for a national boycott after accusing the retail giant of discriminating against Christmas while promoting other seasonal holidays by name, such as Kwanzaa and Hanukkah.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue said Wal-Mart has apologized, withdrawn “its insane statement” on the origins of Christmas and revised its website.

“This is a sweet victory for the Catholic League, Christians in general, and people of all faiths,” Donohue said. “And it means that Wal-Mart can now enter the Christmas season without this cloud hanging over it.”

Donohue said a customer service employee named Kirby who touched off the controversy with an e-mail about the origins of Christmas has been fired.

Wal-Mart spokesman Dan Fogleman released a statement last night saying, “We sincerely apologize to any person or organization that was offended by the inappropriate and inflammatory comments made by this former associate.”

Donohue said Wal-Mart also has adjusted its website so that when a customer types "Christmas" in its search engine, he no longer gets, "We've brought you to our Holiday page based on your search." Now the customer is taken directly to a site named "Christmas."

Wal-Mart says it will not change its policy of encouraging employees to say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas," Donohue noted.

"This is dumb, but it was never part of the Catholic League's complaint," he said. "We only trigger boycotts when we've been grossly offended."

The controversy was sparked when a woman recently complained to Wal-Mart that the store was replacing its "Merry Christmas" greeting with "Happy Holidays."

Speaking of Marines...

Ahmard Hall # 46

Hall is currently in the inactive reserve, but could be recalled to duty at any time, and he knows it. But when he finishes his degree, his opportunities are limitless, and might even include a chance at professional football.

Right now, he is the Longhorns’ high profile representative as a statement to patriotism. When the Texas Legislature honored the team for its Rose Bowl Victory, Hall was one of two players they asked to come to the House floor to accept the award.

As a Veteran’s Day project last year, Hall helped the Longhorns organize a drive to provide care packages to the Marines in combat.

The Big 12 gave their award to a guy who is a real American hero. He is a dedicated husband and father, an unselfish and caring teammate, and a proud Marine.

They say “the Lord helps those who help themselves,” and Ahmard Hall has certainly done that.

But what we know most of all, when it comes to “watching over” folks, Ahmard Hall is both a participant, and a recipient.

When David Little left Iraq, he sent an e-mail to friends and family.

“I cannot leave this place without remembering those who will not return,” he wrote. “Both friends and Marines and sailors I did not know shed their blood and gave their lives here. They believed in what they were doing. They took a stand and made a difference with their lives, and are to be respected for that. They stepped up and faced death so that others would not have to, and they are to be honored for that. And, they gave of themselves selflessly so that my children and yours can play in the yard, go to school, and live their lives without the constant fear of an attack from evil terrorists. They are to be thanked for that.”

While your Administration is being investigated for crimes, and being charged for your crimes, you have the audacity to place the blame on others while hiding from blame yourself. As the cover-up grows, and as the deceit reaches higher and higher, the tough questions must be asked, and we must push for the truth your White House refuses to bring forth.

AMMAN, JORDAN - Sameeh Khreis has spent years demanding justice and more rights for jailed Islamic extremists. But on Thursday, he joined thousands who took to the streets across Jordan to condemn the militants behind Amman's triple hotel bombings that killed 59 people.

"This is disgusting. We will never tolerate such terrorism," Khreis said, marching with 2,000 others in Jordan's capital.

"Burn in hell, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi!" they shouted, denouncing the Jordanian-born leader of al-Qaida in Iraq. Al-Zarqawi's group claimed responsibility for the blasts but later, confronted with mounting protests, took the rare step of trying to justify the attacks on Arab civilians.

Former Pittsburgh Steeler Dies

Former American football star Steve Courson has died after a tree he was cutting down fell on him.

Courson, 50, a Super Bowl winner with Pittsburgh in 1978 and 1979, was killed at his home in Pennsylvania. He played for the Steelers as an offensive lineman from 1978-1983 and then had two seasons with Tampa Bay.

An admitted steroid user, he testified before the US Federal Government reform committee earlier this year on the dangers of steroid use.

After retiring in 1985, Courson said steroids had caused him serious health problems, including a heart condition.

Since his retirement, Courson had lectured in schools about the dangers of steroid abuse.
In a statement, the Steelers said: "We will remember Steve for his many on-field contributions to our football club as well as for the caring person he was away from the game.

"Steve Courson will remain in our prayers and will be missed by everyone who knew him."

Africans Not Surprised About Riots In France

Many Africans in French-speaking nations across the continent say that they are not surprised with the recent violence that has spread in France, instead saying that there has been an underlying racism among the French all along. Racism exists in all communities of mankind and the French should not be condemned for putting the interests of Frenchmen ahead of other people. Racism occurs everywhere and in every country so why condemn the French, British, Germans, or any other white nation when it exists in Japan, China, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and so forth. The attacks by blacks on white farmers in Africa cannot be ignored or labled as justice. To condemn Europe, the United States, Britain, or Australia of racism is racism in itself. It is blatant bigotry against the white man and his culture. There’s an old saying that applies here: “Take the plank from your own eye before you try to remove the speck in your neighbor’s eye.” Don't condemn racism in your neighbor until you have removed it from yourself.

Hope For the Future?

It seems he's getting quite a bit of heat from the liberals at BSU for stating opinions contrary to the 'politically correct' guidelines that liberals think all should adhere to. Maybe there's some hope for the future at the universities across the country if young men like Brandon can state their cases with courage and conviction and not back down from the liberal onslaught. The liberals haven't won the day yet, and God willing, they won't!

How the Left is undermining its ideological credibility

The liberal contingent of America – who fought to block civil rights legislation for more than half a century – are now the self-proclaimed champions of civil liberties, tolerance and cultural diversity, at least for their like-minded ideological allies. The substance and force of this façade end with party lines. I’ve recently learned what many already know: the political left is as hateful and intolerant as ever.

First, religious convictions are now fair ground for personal attacks, especially for those of the Judeo-Christian persuasion.

Minority religions whose congregations generally vote with the Left are spared from criticism and ridicule, even if their conservative theological principles correlate closely with, or even surpass, their Judeo-Christian neighbors.

Apparently, the anti-religion sentiment is only applicable to right-wing conservatives.
Religious conservatives, particularly Christians, are roundly criticized and labeled with familiar words such as: ignoramuses, uneducated morons, fanatics, tyrants, extremists, hatemongers and “Jesus freaks.”

And, of course, the Bible is “hate literature” with which the vile despots spread their ignorant convictions. It’s come to the point where liberals use the phrase “she’s a Christian” as some sort of self-evident indictment of character.

The fanatical “Jesus freaks” who want to stay abortion forks from murdering unborn children subscribe to the “religion of hate,” but suicidal extremists who routinely kill in religious bloodlust subscribe to the “religion of peace.”

Interesting spin, eh?

Second, the same liberals who have allied with feminists working to equalize gender differences use chauvinism and stereotypical mockery to defame conservative women. Let’s look at Brandi Swindell’s city council campaign to examine the desperate tactics of hate employed by the angry Left.

Behind the veneer, intellectual intolerance and hate pervade the liberal community. When challenged, its members resort to personal attacks, mockery, sexism, religious bigotry and unfounded prejudice to belittle their conservative opponents.

If they want to be taken seriously as the “progressives” pushing for a better tomorrow – one without the sundry “isms” that plague our society – they should begin the purge within their own ranks.

AIM Takes on Time Magazine

Cliff Kincaid chastises flagrant media bias by Time magazine

In a blatant violation of journalistic ethics, Time magazine assigned a homosexual reporter, John Cloud, to write the recent Time cover story on homosexual teenagers but did not disclose his conflict of interest to its readers. The story, The Battle Over Gay Teens, was the cover story in the October 10 issue.

The National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality has denounced Cloud for having "a long history of promoting the gay political agenda while disguised as a mainstream reporter." It says that he used to work for the Washington City Paper, an alternative newsweekly, and authored a sympathetic look at gay bathhouses, where homosexuals have anonymous sex. Cloud has been given awards by the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).

It's no surprise, therefore, that the 2004 GLAAD annual report reveals that the organization's corporate sponsors include Time, Inc. and Time Magazine, in addition to Time Warner, People Magazine, ABC News, Fox Entertainment Group, HBO, and MTV Networks.

Violent Clashes at Mexican Border Double

Attacks on U.S. Border Patrol agents nearly doubled along the Mexican border during the past year as authorities stepped up efforts to curb drug smuggling and illegal immigration.

In the face of tightened security along the border, increasingly desperate drug and immigrant traffickers have assaulted agents with rocks, marbles fired from slingshots, even gunfire and Molotov cocktails.

At least 687 assaults against agents were recorded in the fiscal year that ended on September 30, up from 354 in the previous year, and the highest since the agency began tracking assaults along the border, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Projectiles hurled by smugglers and migrants have dented Border Patrol vehicles and shattered windshields. Agents in the Tucson and San Diego sectors have reported being shot at 43 times, compared to 18 times the previous year.

Three agents were shot in the leg, and least 20 others were hospitalized, many with head injuries after being struck by rocks.

Agents have shot and killed five suspected smugglers in the Tucson and San Diego sectors, including a man armed with a semi-automatic weapon who was suspected of waiting to pick up migrants.

In another encounter, an agent came under fire as he approached a vehicle being loaded with drugs, and nearly two dozen bullets struck the agent's vehicle. He suffered a leg wound.

In Calexico, Calif., across the border from Mexicali, smugglers have begun tossing Molotov cocktails at agents.

Officials say the increased number of attacks is a result of rising frustration among drug and immigrant smugglers, who have seen traditional smuggling routes blocked by a border buildup that has seen the number of agents rise to an all-time high of 11,000 along the Mexican border.

"They're feeling they have to fight their way through now," Jim Hawkins, a spokesman for the agency's Tucson sector, told the Times.

"We're taking their livelihood away from them, so they're getting angry and desperate." Most assaults occur in Arizona and California, where borders have been heavily fortified.

That has driven many smugglers to the New Mexico border. Illegal immigration has become such a huge problem there that Gov. Bill Richardson declared a state of emergency in four of his state's counties bordering Mexico.

"It's not just illegal immigrants," Richardson said. "It's criminal, violent activity that has been spawned by the illegal immigrant traffic and by some of the characters who are using that to bring in drugs and theft and violence."

Minutemen Quietly Set Up in Valley with Help of Landowners

Pharr, Texas- Hundreds of Minutemen volunteers have kept a watchful eye along parts of the Rio Grande Valley and say they won’t give up until it is secure. Earlier this month in Falfurrias, members of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps kicked off the Secure Our Borders Campaign, which continues through the end of the month.

While patrols in Falfurrias drew heavy media coverage, the group quietly began reconnaissance missions in the Valley in August and beefed up patrols Labor Day weekend. "The only people that knew were the landowners and us," said Mike Vickers, one of the local organizers of the activist Minuteman Project based in Falfurrias. "We are making a difference (in the Rio Grande Valley)," he said. "We’re set up and helping the Border Patrol do a more effective job."

The group, made up of civilian volunteers who call the Border Patrol when they see undocumented immigrants, was expected to head to "hot spots" in Valley shortly after the Texas chapter formed in June. Although heavily criticized by local civil rights organizations, the Minuteman project ventured on and now boasts various patrols across a dozen states.

In April, the Minutemen patrolled the Arizona-New Mexico borders; however, they encountered a few problems in doing so. In Texas, Vickers said, they feel the benefit of setting up stations on private property. "We’re not going in and disturbing the area," said Vickers, a Falfurrias-area veterinarian. "If any protesters step foot on private property, they are going straight to jail for trespassing."

Although he could not disclose the exact areas of patrol he did say volunteers are set up through parts of Zapata, Starr and Hidalgo counties. In the future, the group hopes to stretch their presence from Zapata to Brownsville. "We’re covering all of our positions in these counties," he said.

In the Valley alone, about 500 volunteers have participated in the daily patrols. Minutemen leaders have asked each volunteer to recruit 30 more for deployment to the southern border. "People go back to work, go back home when their time is up and then before we know it we have new people showing up," Vickers said.
Local leaders, who could not be reached for comment late Thursday, reported some "excitement by the border," where a coyote was seen picking up a group of illegal immigrants — all caught on tape, Vickers said.

In addition to areas along the Rio Grande, volunteers will setup stations around major crossing points where undocumented immigrants travel once crossing they have crossed the border. "We get on highways and find the pickup and drop off points to find them," Vickers said. "But we want to stop (it) at the river bank."It doesn’t matter how long we will be (in the Valley). But we’ll be there until the lawlessness across South Texas stops."

Alarm in US as 'Gangsta Bible' Goes Mainstream

An American magazine about gangster life that was originally aimed at prisoners is selling so well that it is to go on sale in major stores. To the alarm of those working in crime prevention, Don Diva, which calls itself "the original street bible", has become required reading in many inner cities.

It features interviews with convicts, and includes tips on where to hide drugs and buy the best diamond-studded gold teeth and money-counting machines. Critics say the glossy quarterly - which carries the warning, "Parental Advisory: Gangsta Content" - glamorizes and promotes violent gangland lifestyles. Its supporters say the coverage reflects the reality, and consequences, of crime: perpetrators end up in prison or dead.

Launched six years ago, Don Diva now sells 165,000 copies, and Mrs Childs said each issue reached an estimated one million readers.

Initially, nearly all its subscribers were in prison. Today only 10 per cent of its readers are inmates, and the magazine will soon be on sale at large retail outlets such as Tower Records and Borders. Mrs Childs was inspired to launch the magazine by the prison experiences of her husband, Kevin, a Harlem gang leader who served 10 years for dealing cocaine.

A recent cover showed a 12-year-old toting a gun to illustrate a story on children and firearms violence. "It was a very scandalous cover," she said. "But if I saw it, I'd want to know what it was about. We go for shock value."

The magazine, which has also featured tips on how to avoid money-laundering charges and buy car tyres that can withstand bullets, carries updates on changes to the laws in its legal news section. Susan Marchionna, of the National Council on Crime and Delinquency in San Francisco, said: "It certainly looks like glorification of the lifestyle it says it's about." She said the editor's claims that the magazine told cautionary tales "seems sort of weak from this vantage point".

Don Diva had a trial launch in Britain last year. Only three issues were published, but Mrs Childs said the experiment was a success and she hoped to follow this up. "This isn't just a US thing," she said, "There are urban communities all over the world that can relate to the issues we're talking about."

Catholic School says, "Our integrity isn’t for sale"

A Roman Catholic school is canceling a fashion show by the manufacturer of a popular line of dolls and children's books amid criticism that American Girl is contributing to an organization that support abortion rights and acceptance of lesbians. St. Luke School in Brookfield notified its parents of the decision through bulletins at Masses over the weekend. Money raised through ticket and raffle sales was to go toward a new playground and a refurbished library.

"It's a bargain we'll just have to pass up," wrote Frank Malloy, St. Luke pastor. "The cost is too high. Our integrity isn't for sale."

Two national groups _ the Pro-Life Action League in Chicago and the American Family Association in Tupelo, Miss. _ have raised questions about the American Girl brand and its parent company, Mattel Inc. because of the company's fund-raising for Girls Inc.

Girls Inc. offers a wide range of programs and resources to help educate and encourage girls in everything from science to health. That includes information about abortion and contraception along with sexual abstinence. The organization also affirms lesbian sexual orientation.

One publication, "Free your mind: The book for gay, lesbian, and bisexual youth and their allies," states, "The emergence of a lesbian identity is an ongoing process, rather than an event."

Ann Scheidler, director of the Pro-Life Action League in Chicago, said American Girl "must be receiving enough calls and e-mails to cause them considerable consternation." The American Family Association also has initiated a campaign to warn parents "If there is no announcement by American Girl that they have severed their relationship with Girls, Inc. by the end of October, the Pro-Life Action League will call for a national boycott of American Girl products and will organize demonstrations at the American Girl Place in Chicago and New York," said Scheidler. She called the endorsement of abortion, lesbianism and contraception for young girls a betrayal of the trust American families have place in American Girl. It is insidious for American Girl to manipulate girls into supporting Girls, Inc. through the 'I Can' bracelet and its promise," said Scheidler. "Most of the girls buying the bracelets have no idea what Girls, Inc. stands for."

American Girl teams with pro-abortion, pro-lesbian group

It’s not bad enough that you sell for the sake of profit only, now you want to encourage young girls to become lesbians through politically correct sophistry. It's become a constant battle every day by parents to keep the wolves at their doors at bay to protect their offspring from the corruption of liberalism.

Family advocates are warning parents that the popular American Girl doll maker, owned by Mattel, is partnering with a group that supports abortion and lesbianism.

In August, American Girl launched the "I Can" campaign with Girls Inc., urging girls to take a pledge and purchase a special bracelet.

With every purchase of the "I Can" band, 70 cents is given to Girls Inc. in addition to American Girl's contribution of $50,000.

"Parents need to know that this effort to promote self-esteem among girls is not as innocent as it seems," said Ann Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League. "While Girls Inc. has some good programs, they also support abortion, oppose abstinence-only education for girls and condone lesbianism."

The American Family Association also has initiated a campaign to warn parents.

Scheidler said she hopes American Girl will sever ties with Girls Inc. before the League calls for a boycott of American Girl products and launches a picketing campaign at the American Girl Place retail stores in Chicago and New York.

Judge Taking Parental Role with Children

It’s a start at least. Texas state district Judge Lauri Blake has prohilbited one 17-year-old girl from having sex as part of her probation. The judge in Sherman, Texas, has also prohibited body piercings, tattoos, earrings and clothing associated with drugs from people on probation. She has told female lawyers not to wear sleeveless shirts or show cleavage in her courtroom also. What would the people from CSI do if they had to testify in a case in her courtroom? Call for makeup and the director to protest? It’s too bad that a judge has to do the job that children’s parents either refuse to do or who are just too lazy to do. There are too many Britney Spear’s clones out there already that engage in acts and attitudes that will evetually ruin their lives. Not every black can play in the NBA and not every slut is signed to a recording contract.
